LONDON – This week, flag carrier Air New Zealand took top honors at the prestigious 2022 APEX Awards – receiving the 2023 APEX Passenger Choice Award for Best Airline in the South Pacific and being named the 2023 APEX Five Star Winner .

The APEX Awards are held annually to recognize airlines from various regions for providing the best passenger experiences as rated by passengers. In the South Pacific region, Air Tahiti Nui also won two awards for Entertainment and Cabin Service. Fiji Airways was awarded for best food and drink, with Australian airlines Qantas and Virgin Australia citing best Wi-Fi and best seat comfort respectively.

Greg Foran, CEO of Air New Zealand states that the airline is extremely proud to have been named Best Airline in the South Pacific by the Airline Passenger Experience Association.

With New Zealand’s international borders reopening, it’s a fantastic way to celebrate that once our service from Chicago resumes on October 30, not only will we be resuming flights to all of our 29 international destinations, but we’ve also grown – having launched in New York last month.

For the 2023 awards, nearly one million flights were rated by passengers from more than 600 airlines around the world on a five-star scale. Passengers were given the opportunity to provide anonymous ratings in five sub-categories: seat comfort, cabin service, food and beverage, entertainment and Wi-Fi.

These awards follow Air New Zealand’s nomination as the “World’s Safest Airline 2022” in the annual Airline Rankings, marking the airlines’ commitment to driving safety improvements and protect the health and safety of its employees and customers.
