The Bangladeshi Embassy in Qatar held a celebration to mark the 50th anniversary of Victory Day. In the presence of a large number of community members, the ceremony was officially opened by Ambassador Mohamed Jashim Uddin who hoisted the national flag.

The program began with a recitation of the Holy Quran. A special prayer was offered in homage to the Father of the Bangabandhu Nation Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and his martyred family members, four national leaders, 3 million martyrs and for the development and continued progress of Bangladesh under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, a statement from the Embassy said.
Messages from the President, Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Minister of State for Foreign Affairs of Bangladesh were read, followed by the screening of a documentary on Victory Day. Another documentary documenting the reactions of expatriates and service seekers who came to the embassy to the subject of Victory Day was also screened.
President of Bangladesh Community Qatar, Valiant Freedom Fighters, community leaders took part in a discussion on the meaning of Victory Day and the Father of the Nation’s dream of “Sonar Bangla”. The envoy, in his speech, said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is working tirelessly to transform Bangladesh into Sonar Bangla or Golden Bengal, a dream cherished and pursued by the father of the nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
The Ambassador also spoke about the socio-economic development of Bangladesh and achievements in the international arena under Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. He urged Bangladeshi expatriates to actively participate in the country’s development activities.
