SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (KY3) – Bass Pro hosted the annual Fishing Dreams event on Wednesday. More than 100 veterans took to the water of Lake Taneycomo for a morning of fishing.

“We take over 100 veterans on a fishing adventure,” said Martin MacDonald, founder of the Fishing Dreams event. “These veterans have disabilities to protect our country, protect our freedom and protect our democracy. So they served our country and they are extraordinary individuals. “

Veterans and a group of volunteer guides spent the morning fishing for trout and bass.

“My favorite thing is when you see a veteran catching this fish that he maybe didn’t expect to catch, and that’s just priceless,” MacDonald said. “Second, Guides can talk to veterans and learn more about what veterans went through and how they served our country. “

After a morning of fishing, there will be an assembly at Big Cedar Lodge at 11 a.m. which is open to the public.

“So we’ll have flyovers,” MacDonald said. “We have the Ozark High School ROTC, their national champions who will help us with the flag ceremony. “

After the meeting, the guests of honor will be entitled to a lunch. For more information on the Fishing Dreams event CLICK HERE.
