Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (SAR) General Manager Carrie Lam said she will visit Chengdu, southwest China’s Sichuan Province, Sept.22-28, China. Chongqing, and Xi’an in northwestern Shaanxi Province to attend the flag-handing ceremony of the National Games and events promoting regional development.

Lam, who will lead a delegation from the Hong Kong SAR government, will leave for Chengdu via Shenzhen on Wednesday to attend the high-level meeting of the second plenary of the Hong Kong-Sichuan Cooperation Conference. She will also attend the Joint Chiefs’ Conference of Pan-Pearl River Delta Regional Cooperation 2021 on September 24, according to an announcement posted on the regional government’s website.

During her stay in Chengdu, she will hold meetings with leaders from different provinces. Chief Administration Secretary John Lee and Constitutional and Continental Affairs Secretary Erick Tsang Kwok-wai will join the visit, according to the announcement.

Lam will leave for Chongqing on Friday where she will meet with city leaders and make tours.

On Sunday, she will leave for Xi’an to attend the closing ceremony of the 14th National Games in the evening. She will also be present the next day at the national Games flag-giving ceremony with the leaders of Guangdong Province and Macao SAR. Home Secretary Caspar Tsui will also join the visit to Xi’an.

The three venues will jointly host the 15th National Games in 2025.

Lam will return to Hong Kong via Shenzhen on September 28. During his visit, Financial Secretary Paul Chan will be the interim CEO. The Executive Council will be on vacation on September 28.
