This year, the Memorial Day Remembrance Committee decided to waive the parade and luncheon due to the Lewiston Bicentennial parade and celebration.

VFW Post 7487 will hold a Memorial Day celebration and ceremony beginning at 11 a.m. Our program will include a guest speaker as well as a short program. This year we will take the time to remember three prominent members of our community who were members and volunteers of VFW in Lewiston.

Those planning to attend would be asked to adhere to current COVID-19 restrictions in accordance with the state on Memorial Day.

Since VFW Post 7487 dedicated the “Circle of Honor” monument in Academy Park on November 11, 2019, names have been added. We need to add names again before Veterans Day. We ask those who submitted names that are not on the monument to please be patient.

Over Memorial Day weekend, VFW Post 7487 will again be handing out poppies at the DiMino Tops Market in Lewiston from the Friday through Sunday before Memorial Day. All contributions raised will go into our VFW Post 7487 Bruce Sutherland/Larry Stephens Scholarship Fund. We will distribute two bursaries of $750: one to a student from Lew-Port and one to a student from Niagara Wheatfield. Please stop by Tops and receive a poppy to wear on Memorial Day.

In June, for Flag Day, VFW Post 7487, along with Lew-Port Middle School, will host our annual Flag Removal Ceremony

Thank you for your continued support.
