The massive display of flags – 2,977 representing lives lost in attacks by Americans and international citizens – attracts considerable attention at the corner of Malibu Canyon Road and Pacific Coast Highway.

The tradition of “flag waves” began in 2008 when university students were inspired by a similar 9/11 tribute. The flags must be in place until September 23 on the large lawn of the park of the elders.
