Har Ghar Tiranga The campaign took a boost in the southern coast of Andhra Pradesh with people from all walks of life pouring into the streets and carrying the national flag of various sizes, on the eve of Independence Day on Sunday .

‘Vande Mataram’, ‘Inquilab Zindabad’ praised the air as more than 10,000 people carried a 3,000 meter long national flag, dubbed ‘Trivarna Prakasam’, in a grand procession in Ongole from the northern end of the town at the southern end as part of a rally reported by Ongole Mayor G. Sujatha.

Ministers Merugu Nagarjuna and A. Suresh, YSRCP Regional Coordinator Balineni Srinivasa Reddy, MP Ongole Magunta Srinivasulu Reddy, Zilla President Parishad Buchepalli Venkayamma and AS District Collector Dinesh Kumar and Superintendent of Police Malika Garg welcomed the gathering as it meandered up to the Prakasam Bhavan.

People with disabilities riding three-wheeled motorcycles were in the front row of the rally. Students participated in cultural programs organized to highlight the contributions of freedom fighters.

Mr. Nagarjuna urged the people to take inspiration from the freedom fighters and make their contribution to the overall development of the nation and the state.

Union Bank of India staff, led by its Ongole Region Chief, VSV Nagesh, organized a walkathon on the occasion. The bank, as part of its corporate social responsibility, distributed the tricolor flag to the population.

In Nellore, descendants of freedom fighters including Bejawada Gopal Reddy, Ponaka Kanakamma, Duvuru Balaram Reddy, Boma Seshu Reddy, Menukuru Sitarami Reddy, Korabathina Chinnaiah were honored by officials led by KVN District Collector Chakradhar Babu.

The national flag was raised on top of government and private buildings, schools, colleges, apartments and individual houses in the region on this occasion.
